Another mass coral bleaching event is likely to unfold along the #GreatBarrierReef in coming weeks.

Sea surface temperature anomalies are +1.3-1.9C, and accumulated heat stress (Degree Heating Weeks, DHW) is already well above the bleaching threshold, especially in the south.

Global sea surface temperatures are once again in record territory, yesterday at 21.11°C, a temperature not seen in any year prior to 2024.
