Loved coaching 𝗗𝗘𝗥𝗘𝗞 𝗦𝗟𝗬𝗪𝗞𝗔 for many reasons... talented yes, but his attention to detail, willingness to learn & take coaching, hunger to develop into a master of his technique, knowledge of the game, all made him a special teammate & contributor to the program's culture.

If you strip the school name and uniform away, 𝗗𝗘𝗥𝗘𝗞 𝗦𝗟𝗬𝗪𝗞𝗔 Derek Slywka of Ithaca Bomber Football looks like the prototype safety you would have seen on those dominant Nebraska black shirt teams or even Iowa, Washington, or Notre Dame.

Ithaca safety Derek Slywka (𝗗𝗘𝗥𝗘𝗞 𝗦𝗟𝗬𝗪𝗞𝗔) is one my favorite “small school” prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Slywka has great size and an impressive athletic profile for the position. He also had two blocked field goals during his senior season, showcasing his special teams value.
