We’ve raised Β£48,000 in 2 days for my mum who has stage 4 lung cancer! This is unbelievable and we are so close to our goal of Β£70,000. My mum is in disbelief at the support and kindness. Please continue to share and donate if you can 🀍🀍

Here are some of the other attacks on aid workers in Gaza which have not had the same investigative treatment by the IDF. They did not draw the same international outrage either.

β€œI’m not attacking you, I’m just asking a simple question.”

Krishnan Guru-Murthy asks an Israeli spokesman whether the government will apologise to the families of seven people killed in a World Central Kitchen aid convoy, amid reports of repeated strikes on aid agencies.

Lads, the country’s going to shit. Energy prices have caused the sharpest increase in absolute poverty in 30 years. Councils are going bankrupt. Backlogs in the NHS & courts will take an estimated 10 years to clear. 4.3m children are growing up in poverty. But yeah, you crack on.

This is the culmination of the decades-long dehumanisation of Diane Abbott in British political-cultural life. To stand up and be completely invisiblised, whilst
her own party discuss death threats against her, knowing they care nothing about her safety, is surreal to witness.

The way forgiveness is weaponised here is so interesting. When it’s Black women being abused and ridiculed we must forgive but let it be another group and heads will be on sticks. The vengeance continues until the perpetrator is completely destroyed.

Black women are undermined, ridiculed, erased, disrespected, minimised, insulted and abused so often that society sees it as normal.
They expect us to take it and move on.
The hatred permeates all areas of the spaces that we navigate.

There was more outrage when Diane Abbott drank a can of Mojito on a train than an incredibly rich Tory-loving man saying 'she should be shot' and 'she makes him hate all Black women'

again I ask…

if explicitly calling out a hate for the entire race and gender of a person is not gender or race-based, what is??? how much more racist and sexist does a person need to be?

they’re lying through their teeth.

This is exactly it. Post-2012 we have slowly seen Hackney's night life largely disappear to protect newer residents dissatisfaction with 'noise nuisance'

This is exactly how gentrification affects public policy by redefining what is considered acceptable in inner city areas.

Today’s The Guardian Long Read is about the Black gay social and party scene which thrived in London in the 1980s and 90s.

It’s an extract from my book Revolutionary Acts, featuring stories of house parties, night clubs and Black and Beautiful Escorts. theguardian.com/culture/2024/f…
