Yesterday, our #Boston team and MassGeneral Medicine advisor Dr. Keyes spoke about #lungcancer #screening at the Fathers United, Never Divided Men's Brunch!! Our team was moved by each of the inspirational speakers and honored to spread the word about #earlydetection ❤️
Our ALCSI team just published a study in Journal of Clinical Oncology showing that using pack-years to determine #lungcancerscreening eligibility has major limitations. Using a duration cutoff probably is better: ascopubs.org/doi/10.1200/JC…
‼️ Important work that should motivate rapid revision #lungcancer screening guidelines.
Reminder:
>50% of pts w/ #lungcancer wouldn’t have qualified for screening; this is enriched for women + racial minorities
>50% of pts w/ #lungcancer are already incurable (stage IV) at dx
.Alexandra Potter and Priyanka Senthil just published a study in The Annals of Thoracic Surgery showing that the 10-year OS of #NLST pts undergoing lobectomy for stage IA NSCLC was 58%. Nearly 1 in every 4 pts died from #lungcancer during the 10 years after lobectomy.

Personalized cancer risk scores + tailored screening regimens are the future. #OliviaMunn is an early adopter + recently shared how this led to a dx of bilateral #breastcancer @ 43yo.
#Cancer can happen to anyone. We need to catch it early, when it’s curable. #earlydetection
Last week, our Boston team shared #lungcancer #screening resources at the American Red Cross Food Pantry. We were moved by the stories shared by many families affected by lung cancer and will be back soon to continue spreading the word about #earlydetection !!
I cannot overstate the importance of near-peer mentors. They're traveling the road just ahead of you and hold a wealth of knowledge! I'm lucky to have two great ones in thoracic colleagues Justin Becker and Alissa Cooper, MD. #TTLC24 MGH Thoracic Oncology
A dynamic, engaging, and thoughtful discussion of ALK-independent resistance mechanisms by I.DagogoJackMD. She asks: is the first line actually the best setting for deploying combination therapies? 🔥 #TTLC24 IASLC MGH Women in Oncology MGH Thoracic Oncology
Beautiful talk by superstar first year fellow Sarah Waliany, MD, MS sharing findings from a retrospective study of carbo/pem + ALK TKI vs carbo/pem alone after progression of ALK TKI monotherapy, which results in clinically meaningful CNS control. 🔥🙌 #TTLC24 IASLC MGH Women in Oncology MGH Thoracic Oncology
Provocative talk by Dr. Jia Luo, MD about NUT carcinoma—it’s more common than we think!
☝️Take homes: you need RNA NGS, IHC, or FISH for proper diagnosis. Think of testing in young patients with poorly differentiated squamous cell #lungcancer . IASLC Dana-Farber #TTLC24
Clear and compelling talk by rising star Dr. Alissa Cooper, MD about the future of ADCs in #lungcancer —novel ADC constructs, and combining ADCs with immunotherapy. #TTLC24 IASLC MGH Women in Oncology Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center
