Elena Sagalaeva My favourite was when a future student tried to rewrite the anti-plagiarism program I wrote for my University thesis back in 1999. Lots of text analysis etc. I wrote it in Perl, it ran in maybe 20 seconds for all coursework. He rewrote it in 2005 in Java. Oops.
