.Wizard_bisan1 and AJ+ have been nominated for a Peabody Award for her coverage of Gaza.

For over 6 months, Bisan Owda has shown the world how life in Gaza has been through her eyes. She has told the story of Palestinian survival in the face of the Israeli genocide.

The massive faculty walkout at Columbia right now in solidarity with the student protesters is incredible. Faculty everywhere should follow suit.

University admin ordering police to zip tie and arrest professors protecting students praying in between protesting a genocide is about as Orwellian as I can imagine. Shame on NYU, Columbia, and all the rest. Admiration to these profs living up to our ideals.

Mad respect for David Ludden, economic historian of South India and South Asia (including an essay on the 1823 Census in Tirunelveli), who helped form a human chain around peacefully protesting NYU students and was arrested (1/2)

I have a great joke about class traitors.

When Khrushchev meets Chou En Lai he says, 'look at us, we are so different. I come from a peasant background and you are a mandarin.'

Chou says 'we also have a major similarity: we are both traitors to our class.'

The privatisation of water has been a total and utter disaster.

Stop bailing out greedy private companies and bring our water into public ownership instead.

Spivak is 82 years old, survives on a pacemaker & recently underwent a knee replacement surgery. Even in this condition, she works tirelessly with school children in rural Bengal. Those demanding her to speak up should see this. Don't use Palestine for academic ad hominems.

This is a public notice of betrayal for what TISS stands for, and an admission of culpability to all that is being said about this incident. You just advertised your abject failure to support your student and stand up for social justice. None of this will be forgotten.

Thanks to these amazing students. Reminded of Arundhati Roy's recent essay:

'The govts of the most powerful countries in the western world have lost their dignity, & any respect they might have had. ..But the millions of protestors .. are the hope for the future of the world.'
