General university crisis is a good time to learn who actually understands how this university (or any university) works, how to organize, and how to strategize. And who doesn’t.

DC JWJ and a multitude of local progressive groups have come together to demand Metro Forward to negotiate fairly with ATU Local 689 on behalf of workers. Read our letter to Metro ForwardGM here:

This is unacceptable— transit workers make the city run and Metro Forward officials need to show them the respect they deserve.

They need to bargain in good faith with the union instead of making preemptive public declarations like this

Heard WAMU's general manager pitch during today's pledge drive 🤨

I didn't hear her say anything about the layoffs in the 8 o'clock hour, but I did hear her get Sarah Y. Kim's name wrong when she named-dropped the 3 remaining local reporters. (It's Sarah *Y* Kim.)

Local 689 is incredibly disturbed that Metro Forward officials discussed wage freezes for represented workers at Council of DC and Charles Allen’s hearing today.

No contract has been agreed to at this time and making public declarations about aspects of one is not appropriate.

This is huge: two strong education unions in Northern VA representing 26,000 (!!!) Fairfax County Public Schools employees are banding together for union elections.

Everyone needs to read this to understand how thoroughly WAMU 88.5’s leadership has decimated the region’s flagship public radio station. It’s tragic. Worse yet, it didn’t have to be this way.

But the c suit has been silent and appears to be unmoved, as they have been with all the departures under their watch.
