Israel's democratic crisis provides us with an opportunity to explore, in real time, who supports democratic backsliding. Our new working paper (w\ Lior Sheffer, Yotam Margalit and Itamar Yakir) examines this issue using panel data and here's what we find. osf.io/zxukm/

Interesting 💡: politicians rely on direct interactions with citizens for their assessments of 'public opinion'. More so than social media or polls.

Relief (?) that social media are not the primary source, but small n encounters can be biased too.
