Israel's democratic crisis provides us with an opportunity to explore, in real time, who supports democratic backsliding. Our new working paper (w\ Lior Sheffer, Yotam Margalit and Itamar Yakir) examines this issue using panel data and here's what we find. osf.io/zxukm/

Interesting 💡: politicians rely on direct interactions with citizens for their assessments of 'public opinion'. More so than social media or polls.

Relief (?) that social media are not the primary source, but small n encounters can be biased too.

The partisan gap in US climate politics is as wide as ever, but the implications are more complicated than they used to be. One reason: Republicans are more exposed to flood & fire risk.

Woohoo! A huge loss for Harvard and a huge gain for Michigan. Sasha is not only a brilliant scholar but also one of the best colleagues I’ve ever had and a legendary mentor to graduate students. I’m so glad she is heading back to her beloved Ann Arbor.

Pleased to see my paper on placebo tests (with Guadalupe Tuñón and Allan Dafoe) published at AJPS

We provide a definition of placebo tests, a typology of test types, a theory of what makes them informative, & a review and critique of common tests 1/
