This is being confirmed by multiple reputable sources. Several big things:

Tesla has put a stop to all sites that haven't broken ground. So, no Supercharger for places like Big Bend NP and Great Basin NP.

This contractor also saw limited benefit (timeline / cost) in doing expansions of existing sites vs building new sites.

Their (large scale) destination charger projects were impacted as well.

It really is the best family EV out there. We haul our family of 7 in this thing and love it!

Just spent about 30 min chatting with the owner of one of Tesla’s top 10 contractors in the US and they echoed this video from Smart Charge America - all their normal contacts are gone, but they did have an AP contact reach out and ensure them they’ll be paid on in-process site work…

Imagine starting at Tesla on the Supercharger deployment team on Monday, not getting the layoff email Tuesday and then getting laid off Thursday since you just hadn’t made it onto the list yet… that happened to a former coworker of mine.
