I'm always so envious when I meet people who haven't read any Wodehouse novels, because it means they have them all to enjoy for the first time. That seems the ultimate accolade for a writer of fiction: when the people who've read your books envy those who haven't.

Honestly I’m glad I’m not a student at a college where students are forcibly preventing their classmates from entering certain areas of campus, whatever the cause.

I’m glad because my mammalian instinct would be to test how strong their “human chain” is. God, it would be so on.

Oh lord, Dan Dennett has died. That's a huge loss to the intellectosphere. He ruffled lots of feathers and often divided opinion, but he was a phenomenal thinker and always worth listening to. And a fabulous writer.
