Soggy searches for White-spotted Sable (Anania funebris) larvae with Charlotte Rankin in Cumbria today.

We found 21 larvae of this Nationally Scarce species which feeds on Goldenrod.

Forest Cuckoo Bee males are super variable!

Here’s a darker form I saw yesterday, lacking the extensive yellow but still showing the male’s distinctive tail pattern.

The tail is typically white/buff, then black & ending with a little red tip. But some break the rules 🙂
