We have found that many farmers avoid applying compost despite its huge benefits for soil/carbon sequestration🪱

Why?! Because of plastic debris, which gets into municipal compost when we leave plastic in our food/green waste.

Had a great few days participating in a Rank Prize symposium on how agriculture can contribute to #NetZero .

The event offered an excellent opportunity to learn about a range of ongoing research including climate change scenarios, farmer-led trials, & plant breeding/genetics!

Not EGU but fantastic couple of days in the lake district last week Rank Prize symposium. Lots of fantastic presentations on #soil , #plant interactions in net zero #agriculture including #policy , #farmer & social science perspectives.

I spoke to The Guardian about the challenges many are experiencing in UK farming due to heavy rainfall. It's becoming difficult to plant crops such as potatoes & salads on time. We need to consider new strategies to cope with the changing climate. 👇 theguardian.com/environment/20…

Some of the SPRINT team met in Berlin last week to brainstorm potential ways of transitioning away from agricultural synthetic #pesticide use 🇩🇪

Interviews, workshops and success story case studies have been carried out to provide evidence around possible visions and pathways.

The recent Floodplain Meadows project featured Debbie Wilkins & others in the area as they adapted to more regenerative farming of their floodplains🌊🚜
