It’s going to be hard to say goodbye Eastman School. Here are a few moments with students after recent final recitals, and today was the last day of juries. My work is almost done here. Thank you to all my students for your curiosity, inspiration and friendship. I will miss you!

Fond memories from our recording of Holst’s Invocation with Sir Andrew Davis and BBC Philharmonic. I remember his natural warmth and humour during the session, which put everyone around him at ease, and feel lucky to have had this experience. Sir Andrew will be missed by so many.

“The teacher should be conscientious, patient, and even-tempered. Above all, he must have real love and enthusiasm for his work. Good teaching takes a measure of devotion that the teacher is unable to give unless his heart and soul are dedicated to it.” — Ivan Glamian

I got to hear 2 of my cello heroes this week Eastman School. This time it was the other Steven performing Brahms Double with Renee and the college orchestra. Hearing that sound takes me back to playing it with Magnus for Steve many moons ago. Last push now for 8 student recitals!
