Breaking—Cornell is promoting assistant/alum Jon Jaques to its head coaching position, sources tell CBS Sports. Big bump up in the Ivy, but more importantly, a first: D-I basketball now has a coach who once upon a time had a byline at College Hoops Journal (real ones know).

Sources: Cornell is promoting longtime assistant coach and current associate head coach Jon Jaques to become the school’s next head coach. He’s spent 12 years as a Cornell assistant and also worked a graduate assistant for Kyle Smith at Columbia.
