Enjoyed being alongside USDA NAL, Iowa State U Library, and IUPUI Library at USAIN to talk about SPARC's efforts to support equitable implementation of the White House Office of Science & Technology Policy Memo on Public Access! Thanks to my fellow panelists for a great discussion

I’m happy to see our article is finally out in C&RL. We submitted it back in March of 2022. A lot has changed in 2.5 years with OA workflows since we wrote it. But I think it still gives a good look at some of the issues and approaches. doi.org/10.5860/crl.85…

If this were an isolated incident, it wouldn’t be as alarming. But it arrives after the AI rat penis and steady negative paper mill fraud coverage. It is embarrassing for Elsevier and all academic publishing and another dent in the public’s trust in science.

I'm very excited to be taking part! is an urgent topic, with depths we have yet to fully plumb. Who could have guessed the personal anatomy of a rat would have such relevance at a Charleston talk? vice.com/en/article/4a3…

Most institutions care about author equity, Cambridge University Press - Academic has done a great service with their equity fee, but equity should be built into the pricing of OA models like read and publish, not a separate add on fee. OASPA

EMBO Press we retract papers with concrete evidence of FFP. Yet, some publishers have serially retracted suspected papermills. The Sato/Iwamoto case raises the Q at what point all papers linked to an individual should be retracted w/o paper spec. evidence science.org/content/articl…
