One of the most satisfying Earth Day talks I've ever given! I got to speak at Sikkim University, a government college in Gangtok, which is where I'm from. And where CKL and her colleagues are doing great work decolonizing Indigenous anthropology in Northeast India.🙌

Loka Initiative Sikkim has 5 existing hydropower projects along the Teesta basin, 15 upcoming and 27 in pipeline. In the last 30 years, Sikkim's dams have continuously displaced Indigenous people, esp. the Lepcha community, inundated sacred sites, triggered landslides, & harmed biodiversity.

There is hope. There is revolutionary, radical hope. I don't feel it often, but it touches me in fleeting moments. I'm clinging. I'm trying to promise myself to not let go.
