Sadly, people are right to worry. Access to palliative and end of life care is a patchy post code lottery with very limited resources. Hospice care even more limited. ICB’s ongoing refusal to fund PEOLC in line with law & guidance will only exacerbate issue as population ages.

Lots of talk about mental health in the media but little differentiation between wellbeing, mental health and mental illness. This video is a few years old but its my attempt at explaining the differences. It’s become too easy for mental illness to get lost in wider topic.

This is bad news. For individuals, families, NHS, system, society. Sadly, it’s the beginning of what will inevitably happen across the hospice sector and country without fair funding for specialist inpatient beds. We need Ministers to wake up and act before it’s too late.

Government set to announce plans to scrap the cap that restricts academies from only taking in pupils of same religion.
Abandoning the cap will only exacerbate the division, discrimination and disadvantage caused by faith schools. Entirely wrongheaded.

It seems to me that pretty much whatever the religion, gay men are fair game and will be attacked given the opportunity. Some religions more discriminatory/murderous than others, but history suggests it’s only because they have been checked by secular opponents and human rights.

Most important job of my life. Being a good Uncle! Trip to Manchester was all the excuse I needed to pop in and see this amazing man. He’s working in a bar and to say he was a tad surprised to see me at the counter today is a major understatement!

High public, increasing political support makes it seem likely within the next Parliament. Whatever our personal views, leaders should be listening to what our communities/beneficiaries/patients are saying and the questions they are asking. Whatever the outcome, we will adapt.
