THE FIRST STATE OF BEING by Erin Entrada Kelly is one of the best #mglit I've read this year! It's the warm story of a boy desperately afraid of Y2K who meets a 90s-obsessed teen from the future who has timetraveled to his neighborhood. Great tension and brilliant world-building!

This osprey kept swooping over a small muddy island. I wasn't sure what he was doing until I saw him with a stick. He's building a nest!

I remember one of my aunt's neighbors had a wolf-dog hybrid, and it was massive, so this size makes sense.

It's so beautiful. I love wolves. I desperately wanted to see one in Yellowstone last year, and we did...through binoculars. 🙂

I've spent a lot of time outside in my life, and my mom loved photographing birds, so I learned a lot from her. Blue herons had a special place in her heart. They're not all that unusual, but she always loved them, and it felt like a small triumph to see them.
