Then Corncrake for an after-dinner snack 😉 After one arrived last week, we passed by the usual fields many times and never heard a peep. But finally last night we did hear him and his echo, both merrily singing away under a beautiful full moon

Ella Adoo-Kissi-Debrah passed away aged only nine. She lived near London's South Circular, & the coroner ruled her death was caused by the extremely high levels of air pollution, driven by road traffic, Ella was exposed to during her tragically short life. podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/lif…

Vital that you keep your dogs on short leads alongside waterways and banks, nature reserves, farmland, parks, hedgerows.
Water Voles are breeding; ground-nesting birds and those nesting low in shrubs, have eggs or young in them.

Please keep wildlife safe! 🙏

Happy Earth Day! 🌍
I've been busy looking after all the new plants I grew from local, native seed last Autumn. It's early days but so far there's 400 wildflowers, 50 Wild Honeysuckle and 40 Trees!😀🌱🌳

A glimmer of hope: La Oroya, Peru, - - a court ruled a metal mining company harmed local people while government failed to protect them. The court ordered health care provision, compensation & a clean up. It took 20 years of fighting to reach this point.

At first, all I saw was the Rosebay Willowherb twitching, before my small companion appeared. Zoomed camera, rather than stepping forward.
Love the quiet determination of this ecosystem engineering Water Vole. It is such a privilege to spend time with these charismatic wild kin!

Fantastic to meet Councillor Ruth Bennett this morning to chat about how Liverpool City Council grass cutting policy could work better for biodiversity, people and existing budgets. Fingers crossed for a brighter future for Liverpool’s green spaces and their wildlife 🌱❤️

Peat on raised bogs forms at around 1m every 1000 years. Each layer with the sleán is about a century. Apart from the climate and health reasons our turf will run out. So we should stop extracting it before we eliminate all our remaining biodiverse bogs.

A relative was telling me about the beautiful that were along the hedgerows & hedge banks on this land. So I went to check it out. And we wonder why our native wildflowers are disappearing from the landscape!
