The US debt problem is worsening. Without corrective action, debt will exceed 150% of GDP over the next several decades, per U.S. CBO.

It may not be the most talked-about topic, but the national debt is on the 2024 ballot, Ben Harris writes in The Hill.

My story for what has happened to inflation and what it means going forward.

TL;DR: Underlying inflation fell from 4.0-4.5% to 2.5-3.0% as labor markets loosened (through openings down not unemployment up). Last mile will be much harder than to date.

A shortish 🧵

Somewhat puzzling The Wall Street Journal discussion of carrying mortgage debt in retirement. Using their own example, a household would be roughly $60,000 better off--each year--carrying a $500,000 mortgage. Wouldn't it be irresponsible for advisers not to mention? wsj.com/personal-finan…

Markets are completely ignoring the looming US election and possibility of a second Trump term. There's a high likelihood that Trump will go after Mexico as a backdoor for China exports to the US. Meanwhile, this is implied volatility in Mexico's Peso. This is beyond complacent.
