This is fascinating. So 炐 is known from Chinese dictionaries meaning 'cracking of fire' 火聲, pronounced pàng in Mandarin and pong3 in Canto. The Gensen Japanese Dictionary assigns it to the English word 'bomb', equivalent to 暴母. Quite an ingenious phono-semantic match! 😲😲

Another one here that uses 寿 (simplified character), only this time the Arabic reads 'salam' (peace; سلام).

Hokkien expression of the day:
Gû ē pōo tsang-sui 牛會哺棕簑 'a cow can eat raincoats' (miraculous; impossible)
Tsang-sui 棕簑 refers to the palm, Tsang-tshiū 棕樹, out of which these coats are made; tsang-sek 棕色 is the brown colour of the stuff.

Not gonna lie, /ˈɲɔkːi/ being theoretically approximated by */ˈjnʌkɪj/ and then metathesized to /ˈjʌŋkɪj/ to maintain phonotactical constraints has to be up there amongst my favorite language things ever. Good job Yunkie-woman.
