Great to see the new paper out led by Éimear M. Foley.
We showed that a novel measure of inflammation (IL-6 activity) was associated with poorer clinical and cognitive outcomes in patients with depression.
Promising approach over individual inflammatory protein levels.
IL-6 is a much researched & important immune protein. In this study, we apply a new measure:
IL-6 bioavailability derived from serum levels of three proteins involved in IL-6 signaling.
Great work from MRC IEU PhD student Éimear M. Foley 👏

Really enjoyed writing my first blog for The Mental Elf discussing new research into the menstrual cycle as an acute risk factor for suicidal ideation.
Massive thanks to Éimear M. Foley for working with me

A big event - infant mortality was high, esp in tenements of Dublin 153.5 per 0000. How far we’ve come.
