Listening to Gordon Brown on Radio 4 just now, a reminder of what a politician with understanding of the economy is like. In Tory mythology, Brown mishandled the 2008 crisis. Ih reality, he averted disaster. Whereas, Truss and Kwarteng are the personifications of economic chaos.

It’s all there in Britannia Unchained, co-authored by Liz Truss and Kwarteng: the pound can collapse, borrowing and mortgages can soar, pensioners can freeze, kids can go hungry, as long as the economy is ripe for venture capitalists freed from regulation and, ideally, tax.
