According to Abacus Data Exchange, only 1% of Conservative Party of Canada voters think immigration should be higher.

Yet, today, the head of immigration for the Conservative Party of Canada leaves the door open to higher immigration. ''If it’s higher, it’s higher.”

Ask yourself, why?

They say in politics, liberals are the gas pedal, and conservatives are the brakes, and I'm generally with the gas pedal, but not if we're driving off a cliff.

Big story here is inequality rising *within* younger generations, not the generation gap. Also time to reassess simple ‘they vote left cause they can’t afford a house’ narratives.

Interesting thread, but my experience is that much of academia is a hostile environment for conservatives, and libs absolutely do gate-keep.

Eric Kaufmann produced an extensive report on political/ideological discrimination in academia: cspicenter.com/p/academic-fre…

Yes - it’s very clear from many studies that across all fields the environment slants very much against conservatives. There may be a few pro-market types in economics, but you’d struggle to find a national/religious conservative on most faculties

Just circled back to Eric Kaufmann article on Left-Conservative and it's a excellent read.

'Perhaps the essence of left-conservatism is its plea for social cohesion and a concomitant rejection of post-national elites'

daily dose of Cdn insanity: Taxpayer-funded CBC News hypes a cancel campaign vs. a BC mayor bcuz his *wife* (who is cast as the man’s responsibility/property) likes a book deemed to be forbidden “denialist” literature (tho no one can refute its contents)

Berliner’s expose shows that wokery is driven by leaders, affinity groups *and* many staff. An ideological miasma that seized much of the 100% Democrat workforce. This is not mainly self-interest but rather a mind virus.

To the extent this is correct, and I only partially agree, I would argue that the libertarian rather than communitarian strain of the right is responsible plus.thebulwark.com/p/from-intelle…

Exclusive: Home Office tells all staff to spend time on three diversity initiatives every day in leaked DEI training:

“Each day or week, dedicate some time to identify 2 or 3 things” relating to how the Home Office can be “a more diverse and inclusive place to work”.

Anglosphere countries seem to have gone most bonkers on immigration, driven by an elite-led progressive neoliberalism.

Then, adding another nail into the DEI coffin, was the study by Professor Eric Kaufmann that showed a strong majority of Canadians absolutely hate woke/DEI principles (e.g., calls for discrimination against whites, calling POC oppressed) & they want them gone.
