Yikes.

- Secrets in plaintext
- Stored on a public-facing server
- Still accessible for MORE THAN A MONTH after MSFT was notified

This is something you expect from a 5-person accounting firm with no inhouse IT, not the biggest tech co in the world.

There should be a name for the thing where we KNOW most of the professionals in our own field don’t agree on anything and are bad at their jobs, and yet assume the members of other professions must be uniformly competent and consensus-driven.

Reverse Gell-Mann amnesia?

My attempt to summarize how the business of open source got into its current nonsensical condition.

The XZ attack isn't nearly as much of a threat to the future of open-source as the increasing possibility that it might all be lawyered to death. newsletter.goodtechthings.com/p/the-threat-t…

Related phenomenon: you’re going to see way less money spent on “developer marketing” as companies realize that developers don’t spend money and have little influence on those who do.

I've always said that if the @cloudchallenges community were to work with sponsors, it would have to clearly benefit the community. I believe Pluralsight has met that bar.

Glad to be working with Drew Firment &co to get skills in more hands.

People are out here pitching devtools to enterprises like 'this will make your workflow easier and faster', and I'm like ... have you MET an enterprise?

Awesome to see the Kubernetes Resume Challenge solutions starting to roll in! Jump in and give it a try if you’ve been thinking about it; the challenge will remain free and live past the end of March so anyone can take it on.

I am hanging out at socallinuxexpo today in Pasadena! Come say hi, and then stay for a highly ridiculous musical show tonight at 6:30 PM.

If Joe Biden is indeed reelected and serves out all four years of his second term, he would become the first person ever to serve two full terms as both president AND vice president. By that measure he is in the conversation as the most successful American politician of all time.

Happy Monday. Reminder that there is still plenty of time to jump in on the March challenge in the The Cloud Resume Challenge community. We are learning about Kubernetes with the help of KodeKloud!

Wendy’s is bending over backwards to explain why their new “dynamic pricing” for burgers isn’t like Uber surge pricing. They’re right. Pretty sure drivers earn more during surge hours. I have not heard that fast food wages will be “surging” during the lunch rush.

'Snowclone' is the most useful word I learned this week.

Phrasal templates like 'X considered harmful' and 'Tell me you don't know anything about X without telling me' are snowclones.
