UPDATE: Floodgates on Castle Drive, on the east side of Rowlett Creek at Lost Pine Lane and HIckox Road, will remain closed overnight, but will be open in time for the morning commute. All other Garland streets impacted by heavy rains early this morning have been reopened.

Garland's vote is in. Kris Beard has been selected as the new Council Member for District 2. She will take the Oath of Office at a special Council meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 14. All 17 amendments to the City Charter on the ballot were also approved in Saturday's election.

STREETS UPDATE: Flood closures remain on Campbell Road (at Water Oak Drive and at Kinnertone Lane) and Castle Drive (at Lost Pine Lane and at Hickox Road). Naaman School Road is now open to traffic.

IN ADDITION to those previously listed on Campbell and Naaman School roads, these floodgates are closed due to high water:
- Castle Drive at Hickox Road
- Castle Drive at Lost Pine Lane
Our area is under a flash flood warning, so other gates may close as well. Be careful.
