The protection of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority has been further boosted by the addition of 140 islands within the marine park to QLDs protected areas estate. World Water Day 💦 🌧️ Poor water quality is a major threat to the #GreatBarrierReef , particularly inshore areas. Improving the quality of water entering the Marine Park is critical. The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority supports actions that reduce pollutant loads from all land-based sources.

Helicopter flights over the southern #GreatBarrerReef have confirmed extensive coral bleaching across the region.
