The genocide in Gaza may be exceptional in its brutality, but it is archetypal of Israeli history. Zionism was unable to establish or maintain itself on Palestinian land without genocide, and it will continue to do so.

Those articulating their nuanced condemnation positions comfortably embraced counterterrorism as a denunciation rhetoric and presented it to be an extension of principled nonviolence. A moral commitment to nonviolence that offered absolute impunity to Zionism and its war crimes.
