Analyzing 167 arguments made in 25 direct democratic voting campaigns on international issues in Switzerland, Giorgio Malet and Stefanie Walter show that the framing of arguments in favor and against international cooperation differ significantly.
European elections are looming, and everyone is talking about a green backlash. So, Tarik Abou-Chadi, Markus Kollberg, Jannik Jansen, and I collected lots of new data to see if voters are really turning away from climate policy. Here is a what we learned:

In our new article, Denis Cohen | @[email protected] Werner Krause and I provide a new framework, method and data set to analyze vote switching between political parties. We also show how mainstream party convergence affects patterns of vote switching.

When they couldn't vote in private, Spanish citizens voted less for PP because there is a stigma against the party (i.e., there is a social norm against supporting it).
