For those who havenโ€™t yet voted on the pay offer to consultants, this is worth reading.

I have voted to reject the pay offer.

So we're paying ยฃยฃยฃ to train doctors through to post-grad level and then not giving them training places. Not surprisingly many then go abroad. And then we hire consultants from abroad. Genius.

1/3 BMA Consultants this is weekend is your *LAST CHANCE* to vote in the pay referendum closes on Tue.

The PM has lied on Laura Kuenssberg, Liaison Committee, in Prime Ministers questions & again yesterday ๐Ÿ‘‡that you have ACCEPTED this offer.

You HAVENT, but its up to *YOU* So VOTE!

I'm inclined to agree ๐Ÿ‘‡

Its also an element IMHO that's more difficult to get in smaller repeated chunks of action (unlike pay where you can go again each time DDRB does not give *sufficiently* ABOVE inflation to give ANY restoration).

We *MUST* fix DDRB properly

Have you voted yet?! Do it now if not. Search for 'civica' in your email. Have your say one way or the other, is there enough in this offer to stop strikes?

Worth noting on doctors it's not just about degree places. Impressively we're not even funding enough training places for the people who have done degrees (and this is harder because it's also about hospital capacity not just money). x.com/goldstone_tonyโ€ฆ

Mike Henley ๐Ÿคจ CR Chandrasekar Dr Tony Goldstone BMA Consultants Vishal Sharma The BMA Vivek Trivedi Dr Robert Laurenson DoctorsVote ๐Ÿฆ€ #DoctorsVoteForDoctorsVote The pay scale reform is ok & would have been ok if each level all received a minimum of with inflation pay rise AND a move towards pay restoration so another 6-7% on every increment point plus a clear plan & timescale for how the remaining 25% will be recouped

If we need more doctors working at a higher level in many specialties, why are we not expanding the number of post-foundation years training places?

Full pay restoration is simply fairness for doctors.

This will work towards retaining doctors to have a functioning workforce.

This in turn can lead to huge economic benefit with reduction in the waiting list.

Multiple government priorities hit with one stroke.

Full Pay Restoration is entirely reasonable and necessary to stop the exodus od doctors from the UK. See this from an adjacent island: m.independent.ie/irish-news/hseโ€ฆ

These graphs are *terrifying*๐Ÿ‘‡

It all feels a bit like the MMC/MTAS debacle all over again

So important that we open up sufficient training numbers to fill workforce shortfalls *and* ensure those not in formal training get mirrored T&Cs
