🇵🇹 Today is the fiftieth anniversary of the Carnation Revolution in Portugal
But with the country's politics now increasingly polarised, Lea Heyne and 𝐩𝐨𝐩 🍔👾💣 | populismblog.bsky.social ask if #25Abril will continue to represent a unitary symbol of national identity. blogs.lse.ac.uk/europpblog/202…
🇵🇹 Today we join our Portuguese friends in celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution, that ended almost half a century of dictatorship. Our common candidate Nicolas Schmit, PES lead candidate will this afternoon join the commemoration with psocialista & Pedro Nuno Santos.
The Portuguese dictatorship, one of the longest in Europe, ended in April 25th 1974.
50 years later, it has never been more important to remember this day, why it was needed, and all that it changed.
