One doctor called it “challenging conventional wisdom.” Another said it was “innovation.” What would you call it if a doctor ditched the standard of care when treating your child’s face? (And didn’t tell you about it.) My latest for @ProPublica propublica.org/article/utah-c…

Just incredible. The CEO of VICE is giving up on one of the most popular global media brands, firing its journalists and shutting down Vice.com in order to 'transition to a studio model' which means... what? Posting brand stuff to Instagram?

For anyone curious about how racial microaggressions and tokenism work in Canadian media, see this tweet from one of my former managers. You want me to be grateful and shut up? Well I won’t. I hope another racialized person never works there.

Her word IS the case against Toforest, so I had to learn everything I could about this earwitness. And what I found contradicts the narrative by the state that she's reliable, credible and trustworthy. Hear it in just released Episode 7, 'Messy.' 2/3 podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/ear…

4 days ago we interviewed Roshdi Sarraj for a The Washington Post story about the 23 journalists killed in the Israel-Gaza war.
Roshdi, also a journalist, spoke of his late Palestinian colleagues with pride. Today we discovered that Roshdi was killed in an Israeli strike on his home

One of the things about “just Google it” or “do your own research” (no shade or shaming anyone, I’ve done it often) is that the lack of media literacy means people don’t have fully developed research skills nor the practiced discernment to separate out quality information.

Important story - looking at the role of social media and the rise in homicides. I met Monique, the mother of a young man who was shot in his short along with his friend because he was mistaken for someone else. The killing was boasted about on social media.
