P3 enjoyed some ACTIVE LEARNING in maths. In the game 'Musical Maths', the children danced around the classroom then, when the music stopped, they used different STRATEGIES to make the 'Magic Number'! This activity really helped everyone to develop their meta skill of  FOCUS.

We are very excited to offer ‘ESOL’ English classes for Hermie Parents/Carers and Grandparents. If English is an additional language, come to our free English classes led by a trained tutor, from 10/5 09.00 at school. Lots of posters in different languages have been emailed.

P4 & 5 enjoyed their workshop today with Hibernian Community Foundation Utilita They took part in a competition to design an invention that saves energy. There was a surprise visit from Hibernian Football Club who judged the competition entries from each class and held a Q&A! Learning for Sustainability Scotland

We bid Ms Young a fond goodbye in assembly today. We will miss her creativity, humour and commitment to leading our learners with compassion and nurture. She has led school camp every year for the past five years and we are all grateful for her kindness helping homesick Hermies.

Happy international woman’s day to this iconic Hermie- Mrs Burt, 20 years today at Hermie. She knows every single child’s name, is the source of all knowledge, provides a shoulder to cry on for staff and families, wears beautiful clothes and makes us giggle every day. 🥰

Our Equalities group led our assembly on #InternationalWomansDay . They started with a rap they had written about iconic women. We had a world book day parade and a dance off 🕺🏻. (Pupils made props in class if they didn’t want to wear a costume)
