Wonderful things happen when different generations come together, including knowledge-sharing and an increased sense of belonging. Let’s all seek out new opportunities to connect. Even small acts can make a difference! Thank you @OttawaCity for proclaiming #IntergenerationalDay !
Many organizations offer #volunteer opportunities that bring different generations together, such as Ottawa Network for Education Volunteers in Education Program and JA Ottawa. Also, here's a volunteer opportunity for students to share their time with seniors Perley Health this summer. #IGDay
Today marks the 5th anniversary of City of Ottawa June 1 as proclaiming iGen Day. iGen Day recognizes the importance of building bridges across the generations in our city and celebrates everyone that strives to connect the young and old through meaningful, shared experiences.
To create social spaces where people of different ages can come together, iGenOttawa partnered with OCH_LCO and Ottawa Tool Library in 2022 to create an #intergenerational Gathering Bench at Clementine Towers. Since then, OCH has built more benches that are being enjoyed! #IGDay
Music connects different generations in simple and meaningful ways. This wonderful #intergenerational collaboration between OrKidstra and Canadian Showtime Chorus from 2021 will bring more smiles as #ottcity celebrates #IntergenerationalDay for a fifth year! Enjoy🎶

Many organizations are encouraging #intergenerational connections! Local schools are doing a range of activities, such as in-person visits, story-telling, and art-making. As well, Andrew Fleck Children's Services is doing intergenerational programming where older adults are “grand-friends.” #IGDay
This is the 13th Annual #Intergenerational Day in Canada. Share your celebrations with us and think about connecting with other generations not only today, but all year. #IGDay2023 #NewBrunswick .

Students from Carleton University's Azrieli School of Architecture met with residents of Russell Heights to design a new community space. It’s a partnership with OCH, CarletonArchitecture and the Russell Heights Community House. The project is set to start in June. #OCHVolunteers
In the lead-up to Intergenerational Day, it was great to gather to plant flowers and enjoy conversation with Clementine Towers residents. Thanks to @AVmartycarr and Stéphanie Plante 🇨🇦🇨🇭 for joining us, and OCH_LCO and Ottawa Tool Library for partnering with us on this gathering bench!
We're proud to premiere a brand new episode of Community Connections with host Susan Johnston who sat down with the founders of urbanimaginaries recently to chat about the project. Check out the episode at the link below:

Spring is in the air! Children at our Mooney’s Bay Intergenerational ELC have already started planting seeds to be transferred to the garden when things warm up outside. We can spy some celery and beans. What are you planting in your garden this year? #AFCSMooneysBay
'Ms. Keeley gives the younger guards advice too, although it’s not about work but about how to move through this life – it must be said – swimmingly.' #intergenerational #community
