How should we measure invention similarity? Does the method matter? New from me, Ina Ganguli ๐บ๐ฆ ๐ป, @vitalymeursault, Nicholas Reynolds. We validate several NLP models and find that inventions are becoming less similar, โspreading outโ in idea space. Preliminary work, comments welcome!
My paper that came out today at The Review of Economics and Statistics (REStat) (as the lead article!!!). It was a labor of love, and is one of the top products of my research agenda. Very proud that it found such a good home at such a great journal!

We've sent invites for this year's 3rd Innovation PhD Boot Camp, run with Heidi L. Williams Kyle Myers Ina Ganguli ๐บ๐ฆ ๐ป Ben Jones (and thanks to Open Philanthropy for funding!). Lots of great talks coming! For full transparency, here's our unusual selection rule, which we encourage others to use!
My esteemed colleague and co-author Prof. Jim Boyce (UMass Economics) and Prof. Bina Agarwal (University of Manchester) receive the first Global Inequality Research Awards (GiRA). Congratulations to both scholars for their outstanding work. Very proud! wid.world/news-article/bโฆ
