Polish war hero #WitoldPilecki survived Auschwitz to report on Nazi crimes, but never got to return home. OTD 75 yrs ago he was executed by Communists for fighting postwar Soviet occupation of Poland, his story hidden+home razed. Nothing was to remain- please help share his story
A Rebel in Auschwitz just got shortlisted for a lovely prize, the Young Quills award, in which children and young people choose the shortlist. Honoured to be on with catherine barter and Natasha Bowen. Their books sound brilliant, will be reading with my crew!
Really proud of my amazing sister Chloe Fairweather who only went and got her 1st feature doc selected as the UK's official pick for #Oscars2022 ! The film covers domestic violence in Turkey and the remarkable women battling to stop. In cinemas Nov 25: m.imdb.com/news/ni63421643

Since my hero is 19th century feminist and war journalist Margaret Fuller, it’s a huge honor today to receive the Margaret Fuller Society award for “having worked in some significant way to promulgate the social ideals advanced by Margaret Fuller.” Thank you.
#WitoldPilecki 's mission to report on #Auschwitz crimes showed him to be one of the greatest truth-tellers. Thank you Anne Daly for making the connection to Caesar's brave work exposing Assad's regime. Looking forward to your doc #BringingAssadToJustice
Five years in #witoldpilecki 's footsteps convinced me he's one of WWII's greatest heroes. The only reason this remarkable Pole and his mission to #Auschwitz not better known is because he fought Poland's Communist takeover postwar and was executed. He was born 120 yrs ago today.
#WitoldPilecki inspired many lives in Auschwitz and beyond, inc. me to follow in his footsteps for five years. I'm thrilled to share his story with one of my favourite WWII writers clare mulley, biographer of another great Pole, #thespywholoved . Join us @ bit.ly/3tkcdkD
First to Fight is the best book you can read on the start of World War II and Poland’s extraordinary wartime resistance. I only wish Roger Moorhouse 🇺🇦 had written it sooner so I could have used it for my research ;) Huge congrats Roger! I would love to be able to share a toast 🍻
If you don't know it already, this is such a brilliant translation of Pilecki's main #Auschwitz report by Jarek Garlinski. It first compelled me to follow in Pilecki's footsteps and I can't recommend it enough
For US paperback launch #theVolunteer , I'm discussing #witoldpilecki with the brilliant scholar Robert Jan van Pelt tomorrow, 2 pm ET MuseumJewishHeritage. It's a story of extraordinary courage in the face of evil and we'll be exploring why it matters today. mjhnyc.zoom.us/webinar/regist…
Faced by vast evil, disruption, divisiveness, #witoldpilecki rallied people together. Please help share his incredible story on the day of #thevolunteer ’s US paperback launch.
