When I was in Med school, Midazolam was only available in injectable forms. It was only used as an induction agent for general anaesthesia due to its chemical properties. There is risk of respiratory suppression with Midazolam and hence it's only used in anaesthesia.

PeterSweden I recall reading in 2021 that NHS had ordered extraordinary amounts of midazolam and changed the protocol to give more of it, to more people.
