The Rock is foremost a public forum for student expression. The MSU community's messages on it this week were just that.

Why the administration felt compelled to paint over that (per Rachel Louise Just) mystifies me, but that logo and message sure smack bitterly of brand strategy.

Through heavy sadness and the cold winter air, a resounding message in speeches from campus leaders and university officials echoed through the dense crowd gathered in central campus tonight: They are Spartan Strong.
