This, I am afraid, is difficult to square with the reality which is the NHS is providing extra funding for super urgent 'assessments' - at which evidence is gathered about whether trans young people are accessing private medical - but is not providing any extra funding for care.

The NHS have confirmed to Jamie Wareham that young people on the waiting list for gender health, who are offered mental health services, DO NOT have to take up the offer, and it WILL NOT affect their access to gender health.

Horrifying news that England appears to be borrowing the Greg Abbott playbook and investigating the parents of transgender youth who are receiving gender affirming care through private means.

In 2022, this caused international outrage when Texas did it.

I'd recommend reading the whole thread. The possible consequences of this are compelled detransition for trans youth. Effectively a kind of conversion therapy.

The thing that stands out to us is the immense concern Hilary Cass shows for the 'risks' of criminalising conversion therapists, at the same time as the shocking lack of concern for the risks of attacking trans kids accessing care.
