If you have 49 minutes to spare, my paper analyzing the closure of Indian Point is LIVE and free forever

Trying to find a quote I vaguely recall along the lines of “humanity can now perform most of the miracles attributed to God in the Bible.”

Ring a bell? Anyone have a source/citation? Thanks

(Google just turns up religious stuff, chatbots and Perplexity didn't help)

Managing Brian Armstrong's 'Mission First' announcement as head of comms at Coinbase 🛡️ was one of the biggest challenges I've had in my career. It was the right thing to do, but very painful to execute internally and externally b/c it was so controversial at the time.

Highly recommended! Before this fellowship, I don’t think I’ve ever been in a room with more than 10 people committed to progress: not to Panglossian rose-tinted optimism, but to working hard to make the world even better than it already is. You can be part of this movement too!

I take AI risk seriously, but I am against creating new government agencies to regulate AI

Especially any that are required to review and approve AI systems before release

*Especially* if they believe their mandate is to make sure that systems are “proven safe”

Senator Wiener’s response on fails to address the myriad ways in which this bill outlaws open-sourcing models close to today’s frontier (to say nothing of the frontier in the future). (1/2)

When young people ask me how they can end up in a job like mine, the first thing I tell them is to write good stuff and post it publicly online. Jason knows how to do it. This seems like a great program.

If you've enjoyed my Substack writing, it's because of this program. If you're interested in writing about progress-related themes, you should apply. Feel free to DM me if you want to chat about my experience.

The advisor line-up is pretty impressive, too!

“He had linked his sense of self-worth to the standard of ‘not failing’ in the eyes of some vague entity that amounted to ‘the world,’ as currently represented by the modal attitude of SF’s investors”

This is ~every founder, in my experience. An almost unavoidable trap!

I know of lots of education companies playing with AI tutors and what not, but does anyone have an explicit aim of pathfinding to A Young Lady’s Illustrated Primer?

With all the ambition in cognitive and moral education that implies?

This is a great program that I was glad to participate in last fall and made me a better writer. I highly recommend applying.
