So excited to be moderating this weekend at Los Angeles Times Festival of Books for making your debut as a romance author. The last two weeks have been the best research ever
Please support the good folks at L.A. TACO🌴🌮! After I was laid off from L.A. Times, they kindly offered me freelance opportunities. The state of Los Angeles journalism is a mess right now and it’s critical that we keep it alive 🥺
For our annual special issue ahead of the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, I wrote about what Joan Didion’s broken Hollywood in “Play It As It Lays” has to tell us about our own. latimes.com/entertainment-…

Yesterday was my last day with Los Angeles Times. I’m looking forward to answering the big question ahead. Who will I be now that I am free?
I’m excited to find out while freelance writing + illustrating. You can keep up with me with my newsletter here: bit.ly/marissaevansne…
Today is my *official* last day as a Los Angeles Times staffer, where I served as the first Head of Creator Content in the paper's 141 year history.
Thanks to L.A. Times Guild 🦅, I had a 60 day separation period, and will receive severance pay. But many of my colleagues will be short-changed. 1/
You never know where your book will end up. Sam Sifton mentions it in his NYT nostalgia-themed newsletter (and recommends Allison Stewart's WaPo review). He namechecks St Vincent and RuPaul as well and now I'm picturing all of us as Sifton's dinner guests - where's the invite?
I am beyond excited that I get to moderate a panel at LA Times Festival of Books this year!
And among the things I get to talk about are Steely Dan and the Allman Brothers Band. Cannot. Freaking. Wait.
