-Progress is being made on the fire
-Still dealing with thick smoke in mornings, impacting fire fighting
-Fire behavior yesterday 'was manageable' for crews
-Heavy equipment was used to establish control lines

Major traffic jam heading north on Highway 97 towards where new evacuation orders have been issued. How many homes are being evacuated we don’t know as Emergency Operations Centre doesn’t even know as the situation is so fluid.

Side note on the new Surrey policing transition lead BC hired today, Jessica McDonald --- she was paid $423,500 by taxpayers in 2017 after being fired by the BC NDP government.
Her new salary, six years later, for helping NDP sort out Surrey policing, hasn't been disclosed yet.

Global News has learned Damian Hudson, the man charged with the Second Degree murder of Caroline Huebner-Makurat is a repeat offender with an extensive criminal record. Convictions for violent assault, robbery, firearms and drug offences. And he was currently out on bail.
