Thanks Covering Climate Now for the great interview!

It was fun to reflect on how I think about this beat after two years on the job with 19thnews as their first climate and gender reporter.

NEW: Arizona wants you to think it's the hub of the transition. But in rural Mohave County, leaders voted to ban solar, then to allow a gas-fired peaker plant near retiree homes.

Buckle up for my about the residents fighting back:

In a surprising-to-me story, a new study finds that residents who live in public housing are safer from lead exposure than those who live in low-income private market housing.

For decades, Cancer Alley residents like Ashley Gaignard have noticed a pattern of difficult births in their families, with many babies being born early or at a low birth weight.

Now, a study shows the toxic chemicals in the air could be the culprit.

Not a lot of people have heard of Emily Voorde outside disability spaces, but she’s had an outsized impact on disability policy through her longtime friendship with Secretary Pete Buttigieg and Chasten Glezman Buttigieg. I profiled her for 19thnews. 19thnews.org/2024/02/emily-…

I've thought about this a lot in recent months and Jack puts it all very succinctly.

I see it in climate tiktok all the time: people with a massive following essentially reading our stories out loud. Often they don't even link to the original source.

Rochester, Minn. is booming with construction.

But there's a problem, not enough workers, and an aging construction workforce.

With so much work available the mayor has been working to recruit more women of color. I wrote about how it's going.
