“She is fucking fantastic. And has been on the edge of all the frayed edges for a long time. Has been ahead of the curve forever.” — Alina Stefanescu on joanne mcneil and Alina is rarely wrong and Joanne rarely misses from what I’ve read. TLC yo’self and discover a new author today.
don’t really see anyone talking about this but: arrestees at CUNY were charged with *felonies* while arrestees at Columbia were charged with misdemeanors. nobody should be charged with anything but it is a travesty that poorer & racialized students bear the brunt of this struggle
Framing this as a “suppression of discourse” is galling. PEN America expected writers to keep providing them with labor and time while ignore the org’s glaring “except for Palestine” stance. Writers said no and the org has refused to change. So writers have withdrawn their labor.
Shameful. No mayor is great on policing, but the way in which Michelle Wu 吳弭 keeps abetting the BPD and overlooking its well-documented excesses is completely unaccepable.
Had a good time talking about technology and labor histories with joanne mcneil and Malcolm Harris and the LA Festival of Books this weekend — the place was packed! Thx to all who came out, and to Yves Gore for sharing this photo
