Since I first saw it in 1999, on the cover of Flinch #11, this has been my favorite painting by Phil Hale. It is a 40” x 58” oil on linen.

It has so many things I like: the impeccable painting technique, great composition, surreal imagery, dark, dark humor, even mythology.

Speaking of Phil Hale, this is the piece I own and hags proudly at my place. Part of his 'Black Heads' series, it's a oil on 14' x 14' illustration board.

Epic Illustrated #33 was a shock to my 23 old brain. Right in the cover was a painting like non other I have ever seen, by the extraordinary Phil Hale. Inside there was a pseudo story, six painted pages, that absolutely astounded me. Right then I became an instant fan!

The 4 volumes of Flash Gordon/Jungle Jim illustrated by Alex Raymond from The Library of American Comics (IDW) are superb! Like the Prince Valiant ones from Fantagraphics, they use great paper and great color restoration, but their larger size makes them even better!

On Den Volume 1: Neverwhere, Richard Corben used a variety of techniques, including eight gorgeous pages painted in full color. Delirium has published a great Artist Edition (Brute) in French, but I have been trying to get one in English done. Keep your fingers crossed!

My friends at Delirium have done so far two marvelous Richard Corben Artits Editions. One is the super-deluxe Bloodstar, and the other Den One. Den Two is coming soon!

The upcoming Artist Edition (Édition Brute) from Delirium of Den Volume 2, Muvovum, will reproduce astonishing never before seen original pages by Corben like this! Do not miss it!

First of all, it will featured a previously unpublished cover, which Corben intended for this story (there was a variation published, but this is his original composition.) I will also be double sized: 192 pages in total!
