Today, we received the awaited decision on the US aid package that we long fought for. And a very significant one. Our warriors on the front lines, as well as our cities and villages suffering from Russian terror, will feel it.

The U.S. House of Representatives voted on it

I’m in Belfast and can remember when I first came here by train from Dublin. Now, alighting at Lanyon Place Station (then called Belfast Central) and strolling through this vibrant city centre, it’s unrecognizable from militarized dead zone it once was. The vibe here is terrific.

Yesterday The Scotsman. A word to unionists enjoying current SNP travails: if you want to save the Union in the long-term, insulting & patronising Scots who continue to support independence won't do it. Better to consider their reasons, and act on them. scotsman.com/news/opinion/c…

Joyce bang on the money. ' from the moment when Margaret Thatcher started to speak dismissively of the welfare state project, and to embrace economic neoliberalism, the politics of Scotland and England began to diverge.'

Couldn’t agree more. Photographers are some of the unsung heroes of Scottish culture given the terrific images they produce across its many stages & events.
Would love to see a beautiful big exhibition to bring together some of their best work - and of the show creators!

'Support for independence remains high not because 45 or 50 per cent of Scots are fools seduced by romantic nationalism, but because the UK no longer offers a political project to which they can subscribe, or with which they wish to identify.'

Paul Hutcheon Not wrong there...it's also undemocratic. It's either a voluntary union, or it isn't. If it is, then its terms can be democratically scrutinised. Deny that scrutiny, (and self-government while you're at it), and you deny democracy and the terms of the Union itself.

Twitter's radicalised idiots have had their fun clearly and got bored. Maybe they can go waste the time of police in another country? There must be a disinformation bandwagon elsewhere to jump

In my exclusive interview, Shona McCarthy suggests the Fringe’s complexity is used as an “excuse” not to support it, claims funding decisions about it were based on “hearsay and gossip,” and raises concerns about an “unconscious bias” against the festival in funding agencies.

joycemcmillan Malcolm Chisholm The Scotsman James Hutton Institute The hugely frustrating reality is that co-ordinated, constructive, cross-party action on climate change would benefit our health, agriculture, economy, democracy as well as environment. I'm looking out at saturated farmland untilled, unplanted. What hope for 2024 harvests?
