It was great to catch-up with Sir Michael Lyons and fellow commissioners to discuss what the next government can learn from the Lyons Housing Review.

Thanks Martin Hilditch for bringing us back together and Katharine Swindells for the Inside Housing report. insidehousing.co.uk/insight/the-ly….

Gaza's system for measuring deaths has collapsed.

I spoke to the man in charge to understand why, and how he's trying to verify the fate of thousands of missing Palestinians.

🆘 HELP: for the past 8 months, my dad has been shifted from hotel to hotel, while we wait for Haringey Council to repair the mould damage in his home. We've begged for updates, but have been met with silence. Read this article by Inside Housing and RT!!! insidehousing.co.uk/insight/ready-…

A good piece on Renewal from my friend Megan Corton Scott discussing the gendered reality and gendered reporting on the 'big thinkers' behind Labour's preparation for office:

In July, Yeremiah was told the repairs on his Haringey council flat would take less than a week.

He's now been moving hotels weekly for more than 7 months, and the repairs on his flat haven't even started.

Data released today shows that the number of households with children stuck in B&Bs for more than 6 weeks has gone up 120% in a year.

But this isn't the full picture, there are actually hundred more families in this position, but their numbers aren’t public.

I finally received a response to this FOI request re: Kemi Badenoch. It provides details of just two meetings with the groups Transgender Trend and Sex Matters.

Does this really constitute 'engaged extensively'?

An important piece of journalism which has made us think about implementing a consent principle to council owned non-self contained TA. Often it is highly desirable as it is in borough but nevertheless an important challenge here.

Spending on temporary accommodation (TA) is soaring, piling pressure on councils.

East Renfrewshire saw spending on TA jump by 1,395% between 2019-20 and 2022-23

Edinburgh had the next largest percentage increase, of 193%

West Lothian saw a 164% rise over 3 years

Residents of the Wembley block that caught fire last week are saying the fire alarms didn't go off - “the thought of going back in there and it happening at nighttime...terrifies me.”

Feel sick to my stomach - how could you ever sleep in that flat again?

This case has the potential to be groundbreaking.

It's estimated as many as 63,000 legal migrants a year could be facing serious issues with their employment, benefits or housing, because they're stuck without paperwork due to Home Office delays.
