News broke last night that NYC will pay the largest settlement for mass arrest class actions in US history.

1,350+ plaintiffs will be eligible for over $13M in compensation for the NYPD’s violations of their constitutionally-guaranteed rights to free speech and assembly.

The NYPD budget is going up by billions, w/ labor contracts & overtime. Unclear if vacant positions eliminated. Some investments in community safety (CMS, trauma recovery etc) are (+), but not enough to offset NYPD increase. In alignment w/ allies @ Communities United for Police Reform #CareNotCuts
