Funny story.

I had a car accident in 2008. Some driver rear ended me when I stopped at the red light.

I got no help whatsoever, because it happened 2 weeks *before* my 24 months of continuous residence in the UK was completed.

A wee thread:

Having failed on its promise to deliver 6000 more GPs by 2024, the government is quietly replacing GPs with non-medics.

Over half of all surgery appointments are now with non-GP staff such as PAs.

It’s an astonishing, wholesale change to NHS care - without patient consent.

Let me get this straight.

The public are struggling for weeks and months to get an appointment with a GP.

We have 2000 less GPs than 10 years ago.

Yet GPs can’t get jobs as they are being replaced by non doctors.

This is the NHS your government think you and your loved…

The ONLY argument MAPs ever give for their existence is that doctors have rotational training.

Let me say this clearly:
No Dr wants to move job and location every 3-4 months for a decade of their life. They are forced to by NHS England Workforce, Training and Education who have no regard for their wellbeing. 1/2

My position on PAs has changed. A 🧵

I have, in the past, worked with PAs in general practice. Some were very good. I’ve also taught PAs. For these, the ability and quality was much more variable.

But while initially considering PAs to work in my service, I no longer do. /1

Whilst doctors strike for fair pay…

The NHS creates roles for the untrained, gives them much higher salaries, then to justify the salaries gives them opportunities and responsibilities that we required a medical degree to do (rightly so).

When does the deprofessionalism end?

Just added brand new post mortem CT (PMCT) resources and case discussions to the Pathology Portal. Great for trainees preparing for the CHAT exam.

From Theo Estrin-Serlui and Michael Johnstone.
More cases to follow!

A laparoscopic cholecystectomy is a major operation with significant major potential complications, including mortality. Even as consultants, there is a great deal of scrutiny on the number of cases and the complication rate.

It is also an excellent training procedure for…

I could go on. But this is about much more than gallbladders. Nice statement by ASiT.

Hello, friends!

I want to share resources that I used during my pathology observerships. I think it could be helpful for those who do not know where to start (it was me!) and want to get a basic understanding.

Please share your resources as well!
