For the majority of the population, this is an unrealistic and unfair expectation which leads to the selection of unrepresentative groups of contributors.

It values individuality and team work.
People engaging in research should be able to always benefit beyond that of “reimbursement”

Usually, organisations tackle payment/reward head on as if it is the issue rather than a symptom. And, from my perspectives, that’s why it is still an issue.
Jeremy Taylor Lynn Laidlaw (she/her) NIHR Involvement I was at PPI meeting a few weeks ago (as was Lynn Laidlaw (she/her)) and the issue of payment, especially linked to benefits and inclusion of socioeconomically disadvantaged public contributors came up a lot as a substantial problem to inclusive research design.
Thanks Jeremy Taylor. I wonder if you need to do some research to discover the scale of the problems? It also impacts on researchers and PPIE leads who spend considerable time trying to navigate inflexible systems on our behalf.
